The brief concept of the project was to find Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in genes conferring Basmati rice characteristics and to find new Single Sequence Repeats to differentiate Basmati from non-Basmati.

  • SSR markers RM28067, RM1739, RM1340 and RM1350 were identified and 27 Basmati varieties were screened along with one non-Basmati varieties.
